Overview

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) designates World Heritage Sites of outstanding universal cultural or natural heritage value as indicated by countries that signed the UNESCO World Heritage Convention established in 1972. Cultural heritage consists of monuments. (such as works of architecture, monumental sculptures or carvings), groups of buildings and objects (including archaeological sites). Natural areas defined as natural (consisting of physical and biological formations), geological and physiographic formations (including habitats of endangered animal and plant species) and natural areas important for science, conservation or natural beauty. inheritance Nepal ratified the convention on June 20, 1978, allowing its historical sites to be added to the list. In 2023, there were four Nepali websites on the list and there are fifteen more on the initial list. These items can be added to the list of future suppliers. The first Nepalese destinations to be added to the list were Sagarmatha National Park and Kathmandu Valley, which were added in 1979. Due to the partial or significant loss of traditional elements in six of the seven monument zones and the resulting general loss of authenticity and integrity of the entire property, the Kathmandu Valley was also added to the World Heritage List in Danger between 2003 and 2007. Chitwa National Park was added to the list in 1984 and Lumbini, according to Buddhist tradition the birthplace of Buddha, was added in 1997. National parks are natural places and the other two are cultural places.
