The Kathmandu, Pokhara, Ghorepani Poon Hill, and Chitwan Jungle Safari trek is a perfect blend of cultural exploration, scenic mountain trekking, and wildlife adventure. The trek starts in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal, which is renowned for its historical and cultural heritage. Visitors can explore the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, such as Swayambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple), Boudhanath Stupa, and the Durbar Squares of Kathmandu and Bhaktapur. After Kathmandu, trekkers head to Pokhara, a picturesque lakeside city known for its panoramic views of the Annapurna range and serene Lake Phewa.

From Pokhara, trekkers embark on the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek, which is one of the most popular short treks in the Annapurna region. The trek passes through charming Gurung villages, terraced fields, and lush rhododendron forests, with Ghorepani offering stunning views of the Himalayas, including Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. The highlight of this trek is reaching Poon Hill at sunrise to witness the spectacular panoramic view of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. After Poon Hill, the trek continues towards Tadapani and Ghandruk, two beautiful villages known for their cultural richness and majestic mountain views. Following the trek, travelers head to Chitwan National Park for a thrilling jungle safari experience, where they can spot a variety of wildlife, including rhinos, tigers, and exotic bird species. The diverse experiences of trekking, wildlife spotting, and cultural immersion make this a unique adventure, which Holiday Treks & Expedition can expertly guide you through, ensuring a seamless and memorable journey.

Kathmandu, Pokhara, Ghorepani Poon Hill, Chitwan Jungle Safari Permits

To undertake the Kathmandu, Pokhara, Ghorepani Poon Hill, and Chitwan Jungle Safari trek, you will need a few essential permits to enter certain areas. The Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) Permit is required for trekking in the Annapurna region, which includes the Ghorepani Poon Hill and surrounding areas. The cost for this permit is around NPR 2,000 for foreign nationals. This permit is crucial for ensuring the conservation of the Annapurna region's natural and cultural heritage.

Additionally, trekkers are required to obtain the TIMS (Trekkers' Information Management System) Card, which is used to monitor and track trekkers for safety reasons. The TIMS card typically costs NPR 2,000 for individual trekkers. When it comes to the Chitwan National Park, which is home to the famous wildlife safari, visitors need a Chitwan National Park Entry Permit. The cost for the park entry permit is around NPR 1,500 to 2,000. The park also offers various permits for activities like jungle safaris, bird watching, and canoe rides, depending on the type of activity you want to participate in. Holiday Treks & Expedition assists trekkers in obtaining all the necessary permits, ensuring a hassle-free experience as you travel across Nepal’s cultural, natural, and wildlife destinations.

Best Time for Kathmandu, Pokhara, Ghorepani Poon Hill, Chitwan Jungle Safari

The best time to embark on the Kathmandu, Pokhara, Ghorepani Poon Hill, and Chitwan Jungle Safari trek is during the autumn and spring seasons, which offer the most favorable weather conditions for trekking and sightseeing. The autumn season, typically from September to November, is one of the most popular times for trekking in Nepal. During this period, the monsoon rains have receded, and the skies are clear, offering excellent visibility of the mountain ranges and stunning landscapes. The weather is also mild, with daytime temperatures in the low to mid-twenties Celsius, though it can get cooler in higher altitudes. This season is ideal for trekking to Poon Hill, as the panoramic mountain views are unobstructed, and the trails are relatively dry and comfortable.

The spring season, from March to May, is another excellent time for this trek. The temperatures are moderate, and the rhododendron forests along the Ghorepani Poon Hill route are in full bloom, adding vibrant colors to the landscape. The clear skies and fresh air during spring also make it an ideal time for exploring Kathmandu and Pokhara. Additionally, spring is an excellent time for a Chitwan Jungle Safari, as the vegetation is lush, and wildlife sightings are frequent due to the dry conditions. However, trekkers should be aware that higher altitudes can still experience chilly nights, but daytime temperatures remain comfortable. Holiday Treks & Expedition helps ensure that you trek during the best season to provide the most enjoyable, safe, and rewarding experience for travelers.

Try to give a full taste of our vibrant cultural scene and the enchanting way of its people with an English-speaking guide (any language speaking guide can be provided if desired). During our trip we visit Swayambhu Nath, Kathmandu Durbar Square and Boudha Stupa

Kathmandu Durbar Square: Built between the 12th and 18th centuries, this complex of palaces, courtyards and temples was once the seat of the ancient Malla kings of Kathmandu. A fascinating piece is a stone inscription from the 17th century placed on the wall of the palace with inscriptions in 15 languages. Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the social, religious and civic center of the city.

Monkey Temple (Swayambhu Nath stupa): This 2,000-year-old hilltop stupa is the world's grandest Buddhist shrine and is surrounded by several small pagodas. The lid of the main temple is a gilded copper brash and the all-seeing eyes of Lord Buddha are painted on its four sides

Bhoothnath Stupa: The first stupa at Boudhanath was built sometime after AD 600, when the Tibetan king, Songtsen Gampo, converted to Buddhism. In terms of grace and purity of line, no other stupa in Nepal comes close to Boudhanath. From its whitewashed dome to its gilded tower painted with the all-seeing eyes of the Buddha, the monument is perfectly proportioned. Join the Tibetan pilgrims on their morning and evening koras (circumambulations) for the best atmosphere.

The Tourist Bus Station in Sauraha is about 15 minutes from the city Centre, and it is recommended to arrive at the bus stop 30 minutes before the departure time. The tourist buses are considered the safest buses in Nepal. Nepal has mountainous roads so when you travel long distances by bus, sometimes it can take up the whole day. The tourist buses are more comfortable than local buses but as the bus journeys can take long, sometimes, even the tourist buses can feel uncomfortable.
